Volunteer
“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.”
-Erma Bombeck
You can make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities by volunteering your time and talents with those we serve. Perhaps you would like to volunteer behind the scenes. We have opportunities for you to support our mission by participating on committees. We promise the reward of working with and for the individuals we serve will be priceless. The following are some of our volunteer opportunities:
Companionship
Many of our individuals would relish in the opportunity to have a visitor to spend time with them. Perhaps play a game with them, share a cup of coffee or go for a walk. Having a disability can be isolating and a friendly face is a game changer.
Share Your Talent
Do you have a talent or hobby that you would like to share. Maybe you are an exceptional cook, a yoga instructor, a photographer or a crafter. Our Family Support Center is available for you to run a class or demonstration.
Launch Volunteer
Our Launch program is very active in our community. We have volunteer opportunities to support our individuals as they work on their vocational skills. An example might be working with our Launch individuals in prepping Meals on Wheels for over 100 residents on the South Shore, an extra pair of hands would go a long way.
Human Rights
We have openings on our Human Rights committee. Perhaps you have a legal or social service background to contribute to this very important committee.
Fundraising
Join our fundraising committees. We put the “fun” in fundraising! We have 2 major fundraisers every year and volunteers are critical to the success of these events.

Please contact Jenni Gunnarson: jgunnarson@soshoresupport.org. Volunteers will have to have a background check and we will provide support in fulfilling your volunteer work.
